Wow – I’m really impressed with LinkedIn lately. They’ve always had a group function but up until a few weeks ago it wasn’t very “functional.” Now, however, LinkedIn Groups have a built-in discussion forum making it easy to talk to like-minded people in a professional setting.
According to LinkedIn Group Mangers, like me, are now hosting 100,000's of interesting discussions on LinkedIn. But, today I received information about, yet another, Group feature that will be added this Friday, October 24 which I’m really excited about...
Beginning next week we’ll be able to use LinkedIn to submit, share, recommend and discuss articles through any group making it easier than ever to expand knowledge, resources and networks.
As the founder and group manager of both the Parks and Recreation Professionals and Camp Fans and Friends Group, I’m thrilled with this new information. Here’s the entire scoop for those of you wondering how this might work,,,
On-line Groups are a great way to engage your internal and external audiences. You can set up an LinkedIN Group for just about anything. It only takes a few minutes to set up and has so many functions and applications – as you’ve already read.
The great part is that the GROUP Manager can choose to open group membership to anyone in the universe (not recommended) or can approve all requests to join (recommended). So beginning next week:
- Managers (as well as submitters) are able to delete any article that has been submitted or is being discussed.
- Managers (as well as authors) are able to delete any comment within a discussion.
- Managers are able to turn the news sharing and discussion features off entirely within the management tab.
I’m very excited about this and encourage your participation. AND, if you aren’t already aon LinkedIn what are you waiting for? It’s awesome, free and only takes a few minutes to join!
