Social networking can feel overwhelming -- so many options, so little time. I've written about creating profiles on popular sites based on your target audience. I've also sung the praises of using LinkedIn (which I'm told is usually accessible by those working from public agencies even when Facebook, YouTube and Myspace are not) Setting up your basic LinkedIn profile takes a about 5 minutes. Once you're initial profile is up you can explore the site, network with other professionals, join professional networking groups -- all in an effort to save time and find new ideas. LinkedIn is NOT the place to share recipes, discuss weekend party plans or post vacation photos. So, if you've yet to jump into the social networking universe -- I encourage you to do so in the next few days by Linking In. Once you do you can even join the Park and Recreation Professionals Group which has almost 650 members who are discussing all sorts of solutions to the problems you face every day! Send me an Invitation to Link In, too!
